"Like Mother, Like Daughter!" is a line many ladies have probably heard in their lifetime. And it's probably exactly right. However, the similarities don't just stop with looks.

Transforming into our parents is a natural and often involuntary process. Whether you like it or not, it's very likely that as the years go by, the similarities between the two of you will become more and more. Here's how to tell if you've started to turn into your mother:

You sound like her - Your speech has begun to echo hers, with specific expressions and phrases becoming part of your everyday language. This is a testament to your mother's influence on you.

People compare you to your mother - This is another sure sign that you are becoming like your mother. If you are increasingly being compared to your mother by your siblings, childhood friends or other relatives, then you are looking like your mother from the side.

Similar reactions - If you notice that your reactions to stress, joy, disappointment, etc. start to resemble your mother, it is probably true.

You criticize like her - You have started to criticize and correct people around you, especially younger people, when you think they are doing something wrong or risky.

You inherited her hobbies - You began to take an interest in gardening, cooking, sewing or other activities that were typical of your mother.

Your fears are similar - Very often we live with our parents' fears. And that's normal because in raising their children, they inadvertently pass on anxieties, fears, and generally the way they view life. So don't be surprised if you find that some of your mother's fears are already yours - like fear of heights, of flying, of failure, of confined spaces, etc.

You cook like your mother - Maybe your mother is a unique cook or maybe she is notorious for her failed attempts in the kitchen. All of this seems to apply to you more and more. Plus, you start collecting recipes or even cooking family meals that your mom used to make.

Caring like a Mom - You are becoming more responsible and caring for your family, which may reflect qualities you observed in your mother. You also often catch yourself thinking or talking about the health and well-being of others, just like her.

Mom's advice - If you find that the advice you give to friends or family sounds like something your mother would say, you've probably already absorbed a lot of her wisdom and way of thinking.

Isn't that what your mother used to do - You notice that you have the same habits or quirks as your mother, such as the way you hold your coffee cup or arrange your clothes. Even your housekeeping habits resemble hers.

You copied her relationships - Maybe your mother was the domineering partner in her relationship, or maybe she was divorced, or maybe she was jealous, or maybe she avoided confrontation, or maybe she chose a certain type of men for herself. In cognitive psychology, it has been shown that we largely copy the behavior of the same-sex parent in our relationships. So don't be surprised if your love life starts to look a lot like hers.

Congratulations! If most of these statements apply to you, then you've begun to exhibit many of your mother's traits. Accept the similarity and try to reflect and pass on the best of her character.
