Nothing could have prepared me for the realization that I was a mother ... when I knew I was still in a state of uncreation myself.

These scars bear witness but whether to repair or to destruction I no longer know.

Over many years so many poets have touched my imagination and opened paths for me - it hardly makes sense to list them. I have always read a great deal of poetry.

It's as if, in the mother's eyes, her smile, her stroking touch, the child first reads the message:'You are there!'

I am an instrument in the shape/ of a woman trying to translate pulsations/ into images for the relief of the body/ and the reconstruction of the mind.

If the imagination is to transcend and transform experience it has to question, to challenge, to conceive of alternatives, perhaps to the very life you are living at the moment.

I am uncomfortable with talking of poetry as a priestly profession, because I have little use for organized religions and priestly hierarchies. They have demoralized, persecuted, so many, including women, gays, non-believers.
