The Christian gospel is a message of freedom through grace and we must stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free. But what shall we do with our freedom? The Apostle Paul grieved that some of the believers of his day took advantage of their freedom and indulged the flesh in the name of Christian liberty. They threw off discipline, scorned obedience and made gods of their own bellies.

The great test of faith is to wait on God. . . not expecting to push a button and get whatever we want now.

The church that can't worship must be entertained. And leaders who can't lead a church to worship must provide the entertainment.

The neglected heart will soon be a heart overrun with worldly thoughts; the neglected life will soon become a moral chaos.

To admit the existence of a need in God is to admit incompleteness in the divine Being. Need is a creature-word and cannot be spoken of the Creator. God has a voluntary relationg to everything He has made, but He has no Necessary relation to anything outside of Himself. His interest in His creatures arises from His sovereign good pleasure, not from any need those creatures can supply nor from any completeness they can dring to Him who is complete in himself.

God's justice and God's mercy do not quarrel with each other.

It is God who works in and through us, if only we would let God do His work.
