If I understand this correctly Christ taught here the alarming doctrine that the desire for honor among men made belief impossible.

If faith is the gaze of the heart at God, and if this gaze is but the raising of the inward eyes to meet the all-seeing eyes of God, then it follows that it is one of the easiest things possible to do.

God wants worshipers before workers; indeed the only acceptable workers are those who have learned the lost art of worship.

Men may flee from the sunlight to dark and musty caves of the earth, but they cannot put out the sun. So men may in any dispensation despise the grace of God, but they cannot extinguish it.

Philosophy and science have not always been friendly toward the idea of God, the reason being they are dedicated to the task of accounting for things and are impatient with anything that refuses to give an account of itself. The philosopher and the scientist will admit that there is much that they do not know; but that is quite another thing from admitting there is something which they can never know, which indeed they have no technique for discovering.

The church that can't worship must be entertained. And leaders who can't lead a church to worship must provide the entertainment.

Christ dazzles me and stirs within me such feelings of amazement that I can never get over Him.
