Complacency is the deadly enemy of spiritual progress. The contented soul is the stagnant soul.

To desire revival...and at the same time to neglect(personal) prayer and devotion is to wish one way and walk another.

If you cannot worship the Lord in the midst of your responsibilitie s on Monday, it is not very likely that you were worshiping on Sunday!

A true and safe leader is likely to be one who has no desire to lead, but is forced into a position of leadership by the inward pressure of the Holy Spirit and the press of the external situation.

The weakness of so many modern Christians is that they feel too much at home in the world

Our mistake is that we want God to send revival on our terms. We want to get the power of God into our hands, to call it to us that it may work for us in promoting and furthering our kind of Christianity. We want still to be in charge, guiding the chariot through the religious sky in the direction we want it to go, shouting "Glory to God," but modestly accepting a share of the glory for ourselves in a nice inoffensive sort of way. We are calling on God to send fire on our altars, completely ignoring the fact that they are OUR altars and not God's.
