Only six men in the world know about relativity. I am not one of them. When I ask them to explain, they confused me.

Thanks to my fortunate idea of introducing the relativity principle into physics, you (and others) now enormously overrate my scientific abilities, to the point where this makes me quite uncomfortable.

One does not make wars less likely by formulationg rules of warfare... war cannot be humanized. It can only be eliminated.

I have never looked upon ease and happiness as ends in themselves - this critical basis I call the ideal of a pigsty. The ideals that have lighted my way, and time after time have given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been Kindness, Beauty, and Truth. Without the sense of kinship with men of like mind, without the occupation with the objective world, the eternally unattainable in the field of art and scientific endeavors, life would have seemed empty to me. The trite objects of human efforts - possessions, outward success, luxury - have always seemed to me contemptible.

I want to know what God thinks. The rest are details.

Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.

It is certainly true that principles cannot be more securely founded than on experience and consciously clear thinking.
