Honestly, that is the most important thing to me: Can I continue to live up to my own expectations of myself - and not fall back into slacking?

I just like to have words that describe things correctly. Now to me, 'black feminist' does not do that. I need a word that is organic, that really comes out of the culture, that really expresses the spirit that we see in black women. And it's just... womanish.

Many people are aware that we are in peril and that there is no trustworthy leadership.

I almost never do anything for Black History Month, because I feel it's just another way to separate us.

Womanist is to feminist as purple is to lavender.

If I'm killed - if I'm removed - there is nowhere else for me to go but to my ancestors.
