During my years of being close to people engaged in changing the world I have seen fear turn into courage. Sorrow into joy. Funerals into celebration. Because whatever the consequences, people, standing side by side, have expressed who they really are, and that ultimately they believe in the love of the world and each other enough to be that.

Everything is already perfect. And if you can accept that everything is already perfect, the imperfection is a part of the perfection. What's to worry about?

I feel I am a child that's lost its mother. I feel like a calf whose mother has gone off to slaughter.

The sight of a Black nun strikes their sentimentality; and, as I am unalterably rooted in native ground, they consider me a work of primitive art, housed in a magical color; the incarnation of civilized, anti-heathenism, and the fruit of a triumphing idea.

What hurts the most is being misunderstood. They tell me that's an Aquarian trait - that that's the thing we don't like.

I don't know nothing, I think. And glad of it.

No matter how hidden the cruelty, no matter how far off the screams of pain and terror, we live in one world. We are one people.
