And I was shocked, To see the mistakes of each generation, Will just fade like a radio station, If you drive out of range...

I do believe that music has an intense power to connect us together, to inspire us to become ourselves.

My mother was a feminist, and she gave me some tools of self-possession and self-empowerment, but now that I have lived here for forty-three years, it's, like, whoa, there is just so much more to do, other than become myself. I'm still talking about it. I still drop the P-word, "patriarchy," on unsuspecting people in everyday conversations.

Then I show up steady ready and proud and I find I've forgotten how to talk out loud. Isn't it just like you to bring me to my knees?

Change the narrative, change the laws.
