Thereโs no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there arenโt enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for me to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? Whatโs there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed or enforced nor objectively interpreted - and you create a nation of law-breakers - and then you cash in on guilt.
Ayn RandThose touchy mediocrities who sit trembling lest someone's work prove greater than their own - they have no inkling of the loneliness that comes when you reach the top. The loneliness for an equal - for a mind to respect and an achievement to admire.
Ayn RandPeople think that a liar gains a victory over his victim. What Iโve learned is that a lie is an act of self-abdication, because one surrenders oneโs reality to the person to whom one lies, making that person oneโs master, condemning oneself from then on to faking the sort of reality that personโs view requires to be fakedโฆThe man who lies to the world, is the worldโs slave from then onโฆThere are no white lies, there is only the blackest of destruction, and a white lie is the blackest of all.
