Insist that the first question each of us asks isn't "What's good for me?" but "What's good for the country my children will inherit?

America, our endless blessings bestow an enduring burden. But as Americans, we welcome our responsibility to lead.

It may be something that future generations are more open to, but I am pretty confident that for the foreseeable future, using the argument of nondiscrimination, and "Let's get it right for the kids who are here right now," and giving them the best chance possible, is going to be a more persuasive argument.

It is time to leave behind the divisive battles of the past. It is time to move forward as one nation.

We can lose so much of what we've gained in terms of the kind of democratic freedoms and market-based economies and prosperity that we've come to take for granted.

A child's course in life should be determined not by the zip code she's born in, but by the strength of her work ethic and the scope of her dreams.

I believe moderates will need to be driven out in order to usher in the progressive era.
