We are now in want of an art to teach how books are to be read rather than to read them. Such an art is practicable.

Seeing much, suffering much, and studying much, are the three pillars of learning.

All this they call a policy, and seem quite proud of it; but the country has, I think, made up its mind to close this career of plundering and blundering.

And at the next change there will be something very superior to us-something with wings. Ah! That's it: we were fishes, and I believe we shall be crows.
