I always write with an audience in mind. If I feel that [connection] coming back at me then I feel like I'm doing my job. That's why people come to my music - for some emotional experience or a perspective, either on their own lives, or on the world that they're living in.

The artists we love, they put their fingerprint on your imagination, and on your heart and your soul.

To say I'll make your dreams come true would be wrong, but maybe, darling, I could help them along.

I have my ideas, I have my music and I also just enjoy showing off, so that's a big part of it. Also, I like to get up onstage and behave insanely or express myself physically, and the band can get pretty silly.

The poets down here don't write nothin' at all, they just stand back and let it all be.
