I think God wants us to love Him more, not to love others less.

When we Christians behave badly, or fail to behave well, we are making Christianity unbelievable to the outside world

When we want to be something other than the thing God wants us to be, we must be wanting what, in fact, will not make us happy.

No one ever told me that grief felt so like fear. I am not afraid, but the sensation is like being afraid. The same fluttering in the stomach, the same restlessness, the yawning. Or perhaps, hard to want to take it in. It is so uninteresting. Yet I want the others to be about me. I dread the moments when the house is empty. If only they would talk to one another and not to me.

When you are behaving as if you loved someone, you will presently come to love them.

It is a good rule after reading a new book, never to allow yourself another new one till you have read an old one in between.
