The world does not need more Christian literature. What it needs is more Christians writing good literature.

All get what they want; they do not always like it.

The more we get what we now call 'ourselves' out of the way and let Him take us over, the more truly ourselves we become.

Our struggle is--isn't it?--to achieve and retain faith on a lower level. To believe that there is a Listener at all. For as the situation grows more and more desperate, the grisly fears intrude. Are we only talking to ourselves in an empty universe? The silence is often so emphatic. And we have prayed so much already

At present we are on the outside of the world, the wrong side of the door. We discern the freshness and purity of morning, but they do not make us fresh and pure.
