God's love is not wearied by our sins & is relentless in its determination that we be cured at whatever cost to us or Him

Death and resurrection are what the story is about and had we but eyes to see it, this has been hinted on every page, met us, in some disguise, at every turn, and even been muttered in conversations between such minor characters (if they are minor characters) as the vegetables.

The higher animals are in a sense drawn into Man when he loves them and makes them (as he does) much more nearly human than they would otherwise be.

We are all fallen creatures and all very hard to live with.

Talk to me about the truth of religion and I'll listen gladly. Talk to me about the duty of religion and I'll listen submissively. But don't come talking to me about the consolations of religion or I shall suspect that you don't understand.

Holiness is irresistible. If even 10% of the world's population had it the whole world would be converted and happy before the year's end.

The great thing to remember is that though our feelings come and go God's love for us does not.
