A young man who wishes to remain a sound atheist cannot be too careful of his reading.

When you are behaving as if you loved someone, you will presently come to love him. If you injure someone you dislike, you will find yourself disliking him more. If you do him a good turn, you will find yourself disliking him less.

Theocracy is the worst of all governments. If we must have a tyrant, a robber baron is far better than an inquisitor. I read in a periodical the other day that the fundamental thing is how we think of God. By God Himself, it is not! How God thinks of us is not only more important, but infinitely more important.
