Only He who really lived a human life (and I presume that only one did) can fully taste the horror of death.

There is but one good; that is God. Everything else is good when it looks to Him and bad when it turns from Him.

The New Testament writers speak as if Christ's achievement in rising from the dead was the first event of its kind in the whole history of the universe. He is the 'first fruits,' the pioneer of life,' He has forced open a door that has been locked since the death of the first man. He has met, fought, and beaten the King of Death. Everything is different because He has done so.

We do know that no person can be saved except through Christ. We do not know that only those who know Him can be saved by Him.

Something quite unexpected has happened. It came this morning early. For various reasons, not in themselves at all mysterious, my heart was lighter than it had been for many weeks. ... To say it was like a meeting would be going too far. Yet there was that in it which tempts one to use those words. It was as though the lifting of the sorrow removed a barrier.
