Those who put themselves in His hands will become perfect, as He is perfect- perfect in love, wisdom, joy, beauty, health, and immortality. The change will not be completed in this life, for death is an important part of the treatment. How far the change will have gone before death in any particular Christian is uncertain.
C. S. LewisI pray because I can't help myself. I pray because I'm helpless. It doesn't change God - it changes me.
C. S. LewisThe value of the myth is that it takes all the things we know and restores to them the rich significance which has been hidden by โthe veil of familiarity.โ The child enjoys his cold meat, otherwise dull to him, by pretending it is buffalo, just killed with his own bow and arrow. And the child is wise. The real meat comes back to him more savory for having been dipped in a storyโฆby putting bread, gold, horse, apple, or the very roads into a myth, we do not retreat from reality: we rediscover it.
C. S. LewisHe's not safe, but he's good (referring to Aslan, the Lion, in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe)
C. S. LewisWhen you come to knowing God, the initiative lies on His side. If He does not show Himself, nothing you can do will enable you to find Him. And, in fact, He shows much more of Himself to some people than to othersโnot because He has favourites, but because it is impossible for Him to show Himself to a man whose whole mind and character are in the wrong condition. Just as sunlight, though it has no favourites, cannot be reflected in a dusty mirror as clearly as in a clean one.
