Perfect heroines, like perfect heroes, aren't relatable, and if you can't put yourself in the protagonist's shoes, not only will they not inspire you, but the book will be pretty boring.
Cassandra ClareHow could you have guessed?โ Miserable though Will was, he felt free, as if a heavy burden had been displaced from him. โI did all I could to hide and deny it. Youโyou never hid your feelings. Looking back, it was clear and plain, and yet I never saw it. I was astonished when Tessa told me that you were engaged. Youโve always been the source in my life of such good things, James. I never thought you would be the source of pain, and so, wrongly, I never thought of your feelings at all. And that is why I was so blind.
Cassandra ClareYou love each other โ anyone can see that, looking at you โ that kind of love that can burn down the world or raise it up in glory.
Cassandra ClareNo. Absolutely not.โ โSimon,โ she said. โItโs a perfectly fine plan.โ โThe plan where you follow Jace and Sebastian off to some unknown dimensional pocket and we use these rings to communicate so those of us over here in the regular dimension of Earth can track you down? That plan?โ โYes.โ โNo,โ he said. โNo, it isnโt.โ Clary sat back. โYou donโt just get to say no.โ โThis plan involves me! I get to say no! No.โ โSimonโโ Simon patted the seat beside him as if someone were sitting there. โLet me introduce you to my good friend No.
