Time and tide will wait for no man, saith the adage. But all men have to wait for time and tide.

Love, however, is very materially assisted by a warm and active imagination: which has a long memory, and will thrive, for a considerable time, on very slight and sparing food.

Lord, keep my memory green.

Have I yet to learn that the hardest and best-borne trials are those which are never chronicled in any earthly record, and are suffered every day!

Possibly we might even improve the world a little, if we got up early in the morning, and took off our coats to the work.
