I do not believe that any man can preach the gospel who does not preach the Law.

It may be very well to do this and that for good fellowship; but it will never do to lose the friendship of God in order to keep on good terms with men.

For my part, I love to stand foot to foot with an honest foeman. To open warfare, bold and true hearts raise no objection but the ground of quarrel; it is covert enmity which we have most cause to fear, and best reason to loathe. That crafty kindness which inveigles me to sacrifice principle is the serpent in the grass - deadly to the incautious wayfarer.

I slew him-this right hand struck the dagger to his heart. My deeds slew Christ. Alas! I slew my best beloved; I killed him who loved me with an everlasting love. Oh eyes, why do you refuse to weep when you see Jesus' body mangled and torn? Give vent to your sorrow, Christians, for you have good reason to do so.

Time is short. Eternity is long. It is only reasonable that this short life be lived in the light of eternity.

If when I get to heaven the Lord shall say to me, Spurgeon, I want you to preach for all eternity, I would reply, Lord, give me a Bible, that is all I need.

If your faith does not make you pray, have nothing to do with it; get rid of it, and God help thee to begin again.
