Intercessory prayer is an act of communion with Christ, for Jesus pleads for the sons of men.

Be thankful for the thorns and thistles, which keep you from being in love with this world, and becoming an idolater.

We are all men, feeble, frail, and apt to faint.

Do not become self-sufficient . Self-sufficienc y is Satan’s net where he catches men, like poor silly fish, and destroys them. Be not self-sufficient . The way to grow strong in Christ is to become weak in yourself. God pours no power into man’s heart till man’s power is all poured out. Live, then, daily, a life of dependence on the grace of God.

The devil is not afraid of a dust-covered Bible.

I do not believe that any man can preach the gospel who does not preach the Law. The Law is the needle, and you cannot draw the silken thread of the gospel through a man’s heart unless you first send the needle of the Law to make way for it.

True prayer is an approach of the soul by the Spirit of God to the throne of God.
