You are saved - seek to be like your Savior.

The business of the believer with his Bible open is to pray, 'Lord, give me the meaning and spirit of your word, while it lies open before me; apply your word with power to my soul, threatening or promise, doctrine or precept, whatever it may be; lead me into the soul and marrow of your word.'

You will never be saved against your will; God drags nobody to heaven by the ears.

It will be an ill day when our brethren take to bragging and boasting and call it 'testimony to the victorious Christian life.' We trust that holiness will be more than ever the aim of believers, but not the boastful holiness which has deluded some of the excellent of the earth into vain glory, and under which their firmest friends shudder for them.

Humility is to make a right estimate of oneself. It is no humility for a man to think less of himself than he ought.

If there were no hell, the loss of heaven would be hell.

The joys of heaven will surely compensate for the sorrows of earth.
