The best style of prayer is that which cannot be called anything else but a cry.

The saints shall persevere in holiness, because God perseveres in grace.

Self-righteousness exclaims, "I will not be saved in God's way; I will make a new road to heaven; I will not bow before God's grace; I will not accept the atonement which God has wrought out in the person of Jesus; I will be my own redeemer; I will enter heaven by my own strength, and glorify my own merits." The Lord is very wroth against self-righteousness. I do not know of anything against which His fury burneth more than against this, because this touches Him in a very tender point, it insults the glory and honor of His Son Jesus Christ.

Home is the grandest of all institutions.

Oh, the stoop of the Redeemer's amazing love! Let us, henceforth, contend how low we can go side by side with Him, but remember when we have gone to the lowest He descends lower still, so that we can truly feel that the very lowest place is too high for us, because He has gone lower still.

Christ came to bring healing to those who are spiritually sick-you say that you are perfectly well, so you must go your own way and Christ will go in another direction-towar ds sinners.

We are in a wrong state of mind if we are not in a thankful state of mind.
