In seasons of severe trial, the Christian has nothing on earth that he can trust to, and is therefore compelled to cast himself on God alone. When no human deliverance can avail, he must simply and entirely trust himself to the providence and care of God. Happy storm that wrecks a man on such a rock as this! O blessed hurricane that drives the soul to God--and God alone!
Charles SpurgeonIt is of no use for any of you to try to be soul-winners if you are not bearing fruit in your own lives. How can you serve the Lord with your lips if you do not serve Him with your lives.? How can you preach His gospel with your tongues, when with hands, feet, and heart you are preaching the devilโs gospel, and setting up an antichrist by your practical unholiness?
Charles SpurgeonIf when I get to heaven the Lord shall say to me, Spurgeon, I want you to preach for all eternity, I would reply, Lord, give me a Bible, that is all I need.
