Free-will doctrine-what does it? It magnifies man into God. It declares God's purposes a nullity, since they cannot be carried out unless men are willing. It makes God's will a waiting servant to the will of man, and the whole covenant of grace dependent on human action. Denying election on the ground of injustice, it holds God to be a debtor to sinners.

The higher a man is in grace, the lower he will be in his own esteem.

You are not mature if you have a high esteem of yourself. He who boasts in himself is but a babe in Christ, if indeed he be in Christ at all. Young Christians may think much of themselves. Growing Christians think themselves nothing. Mature Christians know that they are less than nothing. The more holy we are, the more we mourn our infirmities, and the humbler is our estimate of ourselves.

Wherever Jesus may lead us, He goes before us. If we don't know where we are going, we know with whom we go.

Want of will causes paralysis of every faculty. In spiritual things man is utterly unable because resolvedly unwilling.

Earnestness is good; it means business. But fanaticism overdoes, and is consequently reactionary.

You need not to know much about Heaven-it is where Christ is, and that is Heaven enough for us.
