Come my, heart, up and away!

Do what you may, strive as earnestly as you can, live as excellently as you please, make what sacrifices you choose, be as eminent as you can for everything that is lovely and of good repute, yet none of these things can be pleaseing to God unless they be mixed with faith.

The first thing in faith is knowledge. What we know we must also agree unto. What we agree unto we must rest upon alone for salvation. It will not save me to know that Christ is a Saviour; but it will save me to trust Him to be my Saviour.

So long as we are receivers of mercy, we must be givers of thanks.

Free grace can go into the gutter, and bring up a jewel!

This depression comes over me whenever the Lord is preparing a larger blessing for my ministry; the cloud is black before it breaks, and overshadows before it yields its deluge of mercy. Depression has now become to me as a prophet in rough clothing, a John the Baptist, heralding the nearer coming of my Lord's richer benison

Unbelief is the mother of vice; it is the parent of sin; and, therefore, I say it is a pestilent evil-a master sin.
