It's good when someone comes to a book or a movie and interacts with it. It's the difference between an illustration and a painting. An illustration serves a specific purpose, and a painting is something you can immerse yourself in.

I will be dying and so will you, and so will everyone here. That's what I want to explore. We're all hurtling towards death, yet here we are for the moment, alive. Each of us knowing we're going to die, each of us secretly believing we won't.

I'm not working on anything. I was trying to write something new . . . I guess the goal for me now, at least at this point, is to try to direct again.

I do like escapism. I like going to the movies on a Friday night and seeing something fun.

The end is built into the beginning.

I don't think the world objectively exists the way we think it exists. There's a constant sort of storytelling process.

I think if I've worked anything through with screenwriting it's that I'm not going to be able to work anything through.
