My grandmother, who passed away at the beginning of November, had a core adage in her life that life is not about what happens to you but about what you do with what happens to you. It's a funny thing to realize I feel called to this work both as a daughter and also as someone who believes I have contributions to make.

I loved working on Wall Street. I loved the meritocracy of it and the camaraderie of the trading floor.
