I got schooled this year by a boy. A boy that I'm seriously, deeply, madly, incredibly, and undeniably in love with. And he taught me the most important thing of all... To put the emphasis On life.

I look at my reflection in the mirror and I see a girl who desperately wants to forgive a boy, but not without a hell of a lot of grovelling first.

If words could break souls, my words just broke his in two.

When I published my first novel, Slammed, I included lyrics at the beginning of each chapter from one of my favorite bands, The Avett Brothers. The overwhelmingly positive response from readers to those lyrics really surprised me.

Whatever connection we thought we had before this...it doesn't compare to this moment. No matter what happens between us in life, this moment has just merged pieces of our souls together. Well always have that, and in a way it's comforting to know.

God gives us the ugliness so we don't take the beautiful things in life for granted.
