The first five years of my career, I was Inmate #1, Bad Guy #1 and Mean Guy #1. I had a great career going, until somebody told me that I was typecast. I said, "Well, what's typecast?" And they said, "Well, you're always playing the mean Chicano dude with tattoos." I thought about that and I said, "Wait a minute! I am the mean Chicano dude with tattoos, so somebody is getting it right."

If you look at the people in Hollywood who are heavy partiers, they're selfish, self-centered and egotistical.

In order to make a great, epic movie, you have to have the four Bs - babes, bullets, blood and blades.

I love to work, so give me what you've got. I'll play a tree, if you want me to. If you want fruit on it, then pay me more money. Otherwise, I just love to work.

I didn't make a deal with God, because you can't make a deal with God. He put me here to talk to kids and to talk to drunks and help addicts. He gave me this "job" which makes it a lot easier to get through to people.

Anybody over 40 is an older person. You better give them some respect.

I relate to any prison movie, as long as it has some authenticity.
