I think that we should make the best of where we live and we all should be able to come back home to a place that is welcoming and represents who we are.

I just don't think there are any rules to color. You have a small space with no windows? Put lamps in there, make it dramatic, paint the ceiling black. Do something with it. If it's dark, accentuate the darkness.

Measuring and laying out the room in advance can save you a lot of headaches.
