We will only truly be free when those in bondage are finally free

If we are to say that religion cannot be concerned with politics then we are really saying that there is a substantial part of human life in which God's writ does not run. If it is not God's, then whose is it? Who is in charge if not the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There are things that must evoke our anger to show we care. It is what we do with that anger. If we direct that energy we can use it positively or destructively.

People almost always imagine that life is going to be better in town and that the streets of the town are paved with gold.

I think it is a good exercise to ask oneself, "How would I have wanted to be treated?"

We struggled against apartheid because we were being blamed and made to suffer for something we could do nothing about. It is the same with homosexuality. The orientation is a given, not a matter of choice. It would be crazy for someone to choose to be gay, given the homophobia that is present.

The worst thing that can happen to anybody in this cultural environment is to fail.
