Keeping the commandments is not a burden, but a joyous rehearsal for the eternity.

God's promises are not always fulfilled as quickly as or in the way we might hope; they come according to His timing and in His ways.

We can sometimes waste years of our lives waiting to be chosen. But that is a false premise. You are already chosen!

We are not perfect. The people around us are not perfect. People do things that annoy, disappoint, and anger. In this mortal life it will always be that way. Nevertheless, we must let go of our grievances. Part of the purpose of mortality is to learn how to let go of such things. That is the Lord’s way. Remember, heaven is filled with those who have this in common: They are forgiven. And they forgive.

Faith is such a principle of power. God works by power, but this power is usually exercised in response to our faith.

We sometimes think that being grateful is what we do after our problems are solved, but how terribly shortsighted that is. How much of life do we miss by waiting to see the rainbow before thanking God that there is rain? Being grateful in times of distress does not mean that we are pleased with our circumstances. It does mean that through the eyes of faith we look beyond our present-day challenges. This is not a gratitude of the lips but of the soul. It is a gratitude that heals the heart and expands the mind.

With Christ, darkness cannot succeed. Darkness will not gain victory over the light of Christ.
