Paradise is a state of mind.

First thing I do in the morning, after I have my breakfast and do my spiritual work, is put on my makeup and fix my hair, and I can do my makeup in 15 minutes.

People always ask me how long it takes to do my hair. I don’t know, I’m never there.

I do have a few little tattoos, but they were mostly done to cover scars because I'm so fair.

So many of my relatives didn't get a chance to go to school, and my own Daddy couldn't read or write.

When I started the Imagination Library in my hometown, I never dreamed that one day we would be helping Scottish kids.

I've struggled enough in my life to be appreciated and understood. I've had to go against all kinds of people through the years just to be myself. I think everybody should be allowed to be who they are, and to love who they love. I don't think we should be judgmental. Lord, I've got enough problems of my own to pass judgment on somebody else.
