Moral #1: "If you work hard, stay focused, and never give up, you will eventually get what you want in life." Moral #2: Sometimes the things we want most in life are the things that will kill us.

Everybody wants to be somebody fancy. Even if they're shy.

Do I still think there will be a day when all the wrongs are made right, when our souls find the completion they are looking for? I do. But when all things are made right, it won’t be because of some preacher or snake-oil salesman or politician or writer making promises in his book. I think, instead, this will be done by Jesus. And it will be at a wedding. And there will be a feast.

If you want to bond with your friends, do something very hard with them, something that you won't be able to do alone.

Even our beliefs have become trend statements.

Christians might say that you can't live a more meaningful life without Jesus. Well, that's absolutely not true. You can. You can enjoy a sunrise whether you know Jesus or not.

I think we can provide better stories through providing mentors, and certainly part of my story is providing mentors to kids growing up without dads.
