If honesty is the key to intimacy, it means we don't have to be perfect and we don't have to pretend to be perfect.

I think the things we want most in life, the things we think will set us free, are not the thing we need.

Do I still think there will be a day when all the wrongs are made right, when our souls find the completion they are looking for? I do. But when all things are made right, it won’t be because of some preacher or snake-oil salesman or politician or writer making promises in his book. I think, instead, this will be done by Jesus. And it will be at a wedding. And there will be a feast.

The ambitions we have will become the stories we live.

When I started studying the issue and issues related to fatherlessness, I realized I had all of them. Fear of intimacy, fear of commitment, poor work ethic, just stuff that you don't have when you don't have a man in your life to look you in the eye and say, "You're good," or "Good job."

...if I do not introduce people to Jesus, then I don't believe Jesus is an important person. It doesn't matter what I say.

I'm the kind of person who wants to present my most honest, authentic self to the world, so I hide backstage and rehearse honest and authentic lines until the curtain opens.
