I think if you like somebody you have to tell them. It might be embarrassing to say it, but you will never regret stepping up. I know from personal experience, however, that you should not keep telling a girl that you like her after she tells you she isn't into it. You should not keep riding your bike by her house either.

It's possible to do both as a writer - to engage and have a family and all that good stuff - and I chose not to for the sake of the career.

The truth is, if what we choose to do with our lives won't make a story meaningful, it won't make a life meaningful either.

If you have a beautiful story, it has to have conflict. If you don't have conflict, it can't be a good story.

I am giving myself to you, and tomorrow I will do it again. I suppose the clock itself will wear thin its time before I am ended at this altar of dying and dying again. God risked Himself on me. I will risk myself on you. And together, we will learn to love, and perhaps then, and only then, understand this gravity that drew Him, unto us.

Telling the truth is the slow, mundane, difficult route to a meaningful life. Anything else is cheating.

Sometimes the story we're telling the world isn't half as endearing as the one that lives inside us.
