We must have a warrant for our prayers. If we have some great desire, we must search the scriptures to find if it be right to ask it.

'Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God' (Rom. 10:17). That is whence faith comes. It is not for me to sit down and wait for faith to come stealing over me with a strong sensation, but is for me to take God at His Word.

Someone has said that there are four things necessary in studying the Bible: Admit, submit, commit and transmit.

I am glad there are things in the Bible I do not understand. If I could take that book up and read it as I would any other book, I might think I could write a book like that.

How far away is Heaven? It is not so far as some imagine. It wasn't very far from Daniel. It was not so far off that Elijah's prayer and those of others could not be heard there. Men full of the Spirit can look right into heaven.

Satan is willing to have us worship anything, however sacred - the Bible, the crucifix, the church - if only we do not worship God Himself.
