I just love it so much [acting]. When I get passionate, Iโll give you everything until I collapse. Thatโs not in any โLook at me, Iโm a saintโ kind of way. Itโs very selfish in a way. Iโm doing this really awesome exploration, and itโs like a drug, because I completely disappear.
Ellen PageI don't get competitive, really. So I don't know. If I'm excited about something, hopefully someone will think, "Oh right, you should do this." And that's great. I'm not being very articulate about this. I just don't want to do stuff if I'm going to feel bummed out and uninspired.
Ellen PageMovies don't necessarily change culture. I don't know if we know for sure if movies change culture but we know for sure that they reflect culture.
Ellen PageYou have ideas planted in your head, thoughts you never had before, that tell you how you have to act, how you have to dress and who you have to be. I have been trying to push back, to be authentic, to follow my heart, but it can be hard.
Ellen PageIt's really crucial to achieve that balance with a film like this, cause it is unique and witty and then there's the tendency to force that. It becomes contrived and I know the feeling like, give me a fork that I can stab in my eye in those kinds of movies.
Ellen PageI think a lot of people in my circle are thinking that way or see the movie [Into the Forest] and then really think that way. I think it's hopefully tapping into sort of a consciousness right now in regards to our society's relationship with the environment and our own and our disconnect from it, myself included.
