In a world not made for women, criticism and ridicule follow us all the days of our lives. Usually they are indications that we are doing something right.

You have to enjoy being a woman. Why should being a woman be such a negative thing where you always have to improve yourself? I have never in my entire life met a man who didn't want to go to bed with me because I was too fat.

As long as I'm facing the right direction, it doesn't matter the size of my steps.

Everyone has talent. What is rare is the courage to follow the talent to the dark place where it leads.

There is still the feeling that women's writing is a lesser class of writing, that what goes on in the nursery or the bedroom is not as important as what goes on in the battlefield, that what women know about is a less category of knowledge.

It's horrible getting older. I mean, it's wonderful because you see the circles of life get completed. But it's horrible losing your looks.
