If you don't know about pain and trouble, you're in sad shape. They make you appreciate life.

I did everything by the seat of my pants. That's why I got hurt so much.

I know guys in my hometown that drive by feel and sound.

I know that I'm very lucky to be alive. For 35 or 40 years I've spilt my blood and broke my bones and spent years in hospitals.

This is a year and a few months after the transplant. Before I had it my doctors told me that it would be the biggest thing that I ever had to face and believe me, when they take your liver out of ya and put another one in it's like replacing a football in your stomach.

You can't ask a guy like me why [I performed]. I really wanted to fly through the air. I was a daredevil, a performer. I loved the thrill, the money, the whole macho thing. All those things made me Evel Knievel. Sure, I was scared. You gotta be an ass not to be scared. But I beat the hell out of death.

I decided to fly through the air and live in the sunlight and enjoy life as much as I could.
