At the moment you're suffering from what we call Maya. Maya is illusion. Maya is a Sanskrit word that suggests that we have forgotten. We've forgotten the purpose of life.

You're always looking for the ultimate. It's kind of like journeying to Ixtlan. You're never going to get there, but that is no reason not to try.

The awareness of liberation is not liberation. The awareness of time is not liberation.

That's what self-discovery seems to mean to most people. You're going to beat yourself up. You're going to reduce what you're supposed to be and do to a set of rules so you can defy them, or so you can perform them and feel smug.

Happiness is not freedom. You may become happy tomorrow; but I assure you, your happiness will be smashed by the pains of your body as you age, by the all-encompassing death that swallows up everything and everyone in this world.

Rise above the limited conditions of pleasure and pain, success and failure, happiness and sorrow, that all the countless unenlightened beings in creation are slaves to.

This lifetime right now you have a specific destiny. You are destined to die at a certain time, to make a certain amount of money, to have certain associations and friendships.
