People aren't always themselves. They're always holding back something.

I feel my job as an artist is to drive people to country radio. That's my job as a country artist. So these streaming places, especially these on-demand streaming places, where you can just push a button and hear it as many times as you want, like YouTube, any of that stuff, that's taking all the ears away from country radio.

There's a difference between knowing what's on the page in a history book and actually feeling that page have curves and valleys.

We treat the lyrics like the woman any man wants to impress the most. We give the lyrics all the attention we can. I'm not sure other formats are remembering that the lyrics are what it's all about.

My biggest problem with the retirement thing was I'd be leaving the part of this business that I enjoy the most... the entertaining part, being on stage and seeing how the music affects people.

I spend all my time right now trying to combat music retail and copyright.

Failure isn't failure if a lesson from it's learned. I guess love would not be love without a risk of being burned.
