Speak only endearing speech, speech that is welcomed. Speech, when it brings no evil to others, is pleasant.

One way leads to acquisition, the other leads to nirvana. Realising this a monk should take no pleasure in the respect of others, but should devote himself to solitude.

Pay no attention to the faults of others, things done or left undone by others. Consider only what by oneself is done or left undone.

Never tell a lie. Anyone who can tell you the slightest of lies is also capable of any evil.

Don't just do something, be there.

Do not carry with you your mistakes. Do not carry your cares. Travel on alone. Like an elephant in the forest.

If you determine your course With force or speed, You miss the way of the dharma. Quietly consider What is right and what is wrong. Receiving all opinions equally, Without haste, wisely, Observe the dharma.
