God left the world unfinished for man to work his skill upon. He left the electricity still in the cloud, the oil still in the earth.

This is a wise, sane Christian faith: that a man commit himself, his life, and his hopes to God; that God undertakes the special protection of that man; that therefore that man ought not to be afraid of anything.

To have what we want is riches; but to be able to do without is power.

Come, then, affliction, if my Father wills, and be my frowning friend. A friend that frowns is better than a smiling enemy.

Annihilation itself is no death to evil. Only good where evil was, is evil dead. An evil thing must live with its evil until it chooses to be good. That alone is the slaying of evil.

Until a man has love, it is well he should have fear. So long as there are wild beasts about, it is better to be afraid than secure.

I tell you, there are more worlds, and more doors to them, than you will think of in many years!
