My own heroes are the dreamers, those men and women who tried to make the world a better place than when they found it, whether in small ways or great ones. Some succeeded, some failed, most had mixed results... but it is the effort that's heroic, as I see it. Win or lose, I admire those who fight the good fight.

I work for two years on a book and it comes out and two days later I've got my first e-mail: When is the next one coming out?

It was a hollow victory they gave me. A crown...it was the girl I prayed them for. Your sister, safe... and mine again as she was meant to be. I ask you, Ned, what good is it to wear a crown?

I have idea files of books that I want to write one of these days, stories I want to write one of these days, but I'll probably never get to them.

I'm fond of all my characters so every time one doesn't make the cut I'm a little disappointed although I understand it.

Perhaps that is the secret. It is not what we do, so much as why we do it.
