Never draw a gun on a man unless you intend to kill him. And believe me, if you do intend to kill him he will already know it. Then he will feel the cold breath of the tomb.

America loves a winner, and will not tolerate a loser, this is why America has never, and will never, lose a war.

A man must know his destiny… if he does not recognize it, then he is lost. By this I mean, once, twice, or at the very most, three times, fate will reach out and tap a man on the shoulder… if he has the imagination, he will turn around and fate will point out to him what fork in the road he should take, if he has the guts, he will take it.

The courageous man is the man who forces himself, in spite of his fear, to carry on.

In the space of two days I had evolved two plans, wholly distinct, both of which were equally feasible. The point I am trying to bring out is that one does not plan and then try to make circumstances fit those plans. One tries to make plans fit the circumstances.

There's only one way for a professional soldier to die. That's from the last bullet of the last battle of the last war.

Plans must be simple and flexible....They must be made by the people who execute them.
