I would like to take the stigma away. 'Mastectomy' the word seemed so scary to me at first. After doing research and seeing the advancements, the surgery has come a long way from 20 years ago. The results can be incredible.

One of my first thoughts I had when I started considering the mastectomy was, 'What am I going to look like?' And then, 'What will my husband think?

Through my attempt to get pregnant through IVF, we sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer. It's been a shock.

You've got to be good to each other ... it really comes back to respect. I was raised in a very Catholic, Italian family and it was all about respect. Don't talk badly about [your partner] the second they walk out the door; really preserve your relationship and be good to each other. Treat it like gold.

I design for a woman who is on the go. Women are busier than ever, and I wanted to design a collection that can go from day to night and be fashionable. Sometimes I wear three outfits in one day.

I want to encourage everyone to be proactive with their health and get checked out.
